What's New & Exciting In The 13-inch Macbook Pro 2020
After updating the Macbook Air with 10th gen Intel CPUs, Apple has now announced a refresh for the 13-inch Macbook Pro models. Alongside getting new CPUs, the 13 inch Macbook Pro also received the most awaited Scissor Switch upgrade for it's keyboard. The new Iris Plus GPU on these new 10th gen Intel hardware are expected to have an 80% faster graphics performance advantage over the older Iris Plus 645. The new faster 3733 MHz LPDDR4X RAM & up to 4TB SSD storage is also a welcome upgrade.
The Touchbar has been made a default feature so, unlike the 2019 models, the baseline options also have it this year. However, these lower-end models are still using the older 8th gen Intel CPUs, slower 2133 MHz LPDDR3 RAM and they also have two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports instead of four.
The Retained Goods
Apple kept all the good stuff from the previous models. Although, we're seeing way thinner bezels in the Windows side of the spectrum, the build quality of Macbooks are still the best in the business. The display is also great with a resolution of 2560x1600, a brightness of 500 nits and it is running on the DCI-P3 color space.
The Stereo Speakers are here too with support for Dolby Atmos. The speaker system on the Macbook Pro has been way better compared to other 13-inch ultrabooks & it seems like, that ain't gonna change this year. They also have the Three-mic Array microphone system so, the audio input in video calls should be great as well. However, the 720P webcam has never been great and as that makes a comeback too, you're stuck with the same mediocre video quality. Also, there is no Wi-Fi 6 so, you've to make peace with the slower 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
As mentioned earlier, the no-touchbar version is now gone. Apple knows that many people preferred that over the touchbar version because of the escape key so, they have retained the Physical Escape Key at the left side of the Touchbar. Touch ID is there too for quick biometric login access.
Pricing & Availability For The 13-inch Macbook Pro (2020)
The pricing for both India & the US are out and the simple explanation is, the new 13-inch Macbook Pro starts at ₹1,22,990 in India and at $1299 in the US. But, nothing is that simple with Apple, is it? So, let's break down the pricing based on the different models.
