Since Tesla unveiled that new Cybertruck, they have received either great responses or, some constructive criticism. The criticism part mostly came from the design which many people weren't impressed with while others loved it. But, whatever the media or the consumer reaction is, The Tesla Cybertruck is truly a Sci-Fi dream. Why is that? Well, let me explain this properly.
The Cybertruck looks completely different than any other pickup truck that is available right now. Instead of the regular curvy design that every other pickup truck has these days, the Cybertruck is way more boxier & to be honest, it kinda looks like a real-life Batmobile or one of those concept cars from Sci-Fi movies.
Elon Musk explained the reason behind this design choice in a tweet. The ultra hard 30x steel that they are using for the body of the Cybertruck (which they also used in their Starship rocket) cannot be stamped as the steel will end up breaking the stamping press. However, the capabilities of this truck are literally wild.
The top end model can go 0-60 mph in less than 2.9 seconds which was not possible till now for a pickup truck. It also has 500 miles of range which is about 804 kilometers. That's insane for an electric pickup truck or any pickup truck. So, as you can see, the numbers are pretty amazing but, do remember that the top-end model costs $69,990 and it's triple-motor & all wheel drive. However, all of the models come with a six person seating capacity.
The baseline single-motor rear wheel drive model, has about 250 miles ( about 402 kilometers) of range and can do 0-60 mph in less than 6.5 seconds. This model costs $39,990 and honestly that's kinda enough for a lot of people. There's is another all wheel dive model with dual motors & it can do 0-60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds and it has a range of about 300 miles (482 kilometers). That model costs $49,990. If you want to add the full autopilot capabilities the hardware is already present but, you'll need to pay $7000 extra to enable it.
Now here's the real thing. Pickup trucks have looked & felt the same way for years. Even the functionality was super limited compared to a regular car. Even the top end ones were just pickup trucks at their best. While that was the point of pickup trucks till now, the Cybertruck is a much needed refinement to the category. Because of it's form factor, it doesn't even look like a pickup truck when the lid on the back is closed & as I've mentioned earlier, it has a 6 person seating capacity. So, it can be used as both a pickup truck & a hi-tech car. All of these when you're not compromising on the basics of a Tesla.
The Cybertruck is gonna push a lot of the competitors to rethink their products & make them better. Just for a product as a whole, the Tesla Cybertruck is different & better. We had seen product ideas similar to this in Sci-Fi movies but, Tesla just took the first step to make that world of science fiction, a reality. So, regardless of the early reactions, the Tesla Cybertruck is the revolution that'll push the industry towards the next big transformation. Tesla has been doing this in the electric car department for a while now & I'm glad that they are bringing the same to the pickup truck industry.
